We wouldn’t be where we are without everyone who has supported our campaign, which only started a mere three weeks ago, so we wish to thank you again for signing and sharing our petition.
Thanks to the momentum you have helped us achieve we have been able to garner media attention appearing on BBC Three Counties Radio and our story will be told in an upcoming feature on Herts Live.
Our petition and letters to Hertsmere MP Oliver Dowden has led to the following response:
“Woodcock Hill Village Green is a wonderful green space in Borehamwood that I have visited many times since becoming the Member of Parliament for Hertsmere, including as part of Mitzvah Day and even planting trees as part of the Queens Commonwealth Canopy project and an Extinction Rebellion Tree. I always say that one of the greatest pleasures of living in our part of Hertfordshire is the countryside we have right on our doorstep, it makes our towns and villages distinct and special places to live.
As you know, nationally I continue to champion the maintenance of green belt protections with colleagues in government. However, as your elected representative in Parliament, I do not have any control over individual local planning matters. I will be writing to the Secretary of State in support of the village green and will continue to work closely with the Woodcock Hill Village Green Association as well as Hertsmere Borough Council, who I have already been in contact with.”
While it is great to have the support of our MP, we must keep up pressure to really send the message to Taylor Wimpey and the Secretary Of State that ‘Enough is Enough!’
So please keep up the great work and let’s keep this train rolling.
All the best,
The Woodcock Hill Village Green Team
